The film starts with a note that this film is set in an unspecified country in the Arab world. The main character Talal Mohamed, a former alcoholic, is detained in a prison cell in a remote police station after drinking and driving with no identification. While waiting for his family to confirm his identity, his fate is up to his jailer, who is a violent and corrupt policeman with personal goals he wants to achieve.
The film takes an American approach to violence and dialogue, and even with the police uniforms and layout of the jail cells. The violence exhibited by the police officer indicates the character is insane, but a close observer to the behavior of police officers in detention centers can find extreme similarities. Written by two non-Arabic speakers, the film is strangely enough an Emirate production, a country notorious for its human rights abuses in jails.
