The film chronicles the life and times of the Muslim prophet Muhammad through the perspective of his uncle, Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, and adopted son, Zayd Ibn Harithah. Following the popular narrative of the start of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula, the film follows the social and political changes as well as the military battles early Muslims went through until the occupation of Mekka.
Some Muslims are taken by non-believers in Mekka and detained and tortured, while others are killed. The incidents create the discourse of martyrdom, which is prominent in Islam. The brutality of the violence prompts Muslims to immigrate to Medina. The persecution of Muslims in the early days of the spreading of the new religion is immortalized and has been visualized in many other films and documentaries about the beginning of Islam.
